Gainesville Regional Airport is set for a multi-million dollar change.

The airport is adding 15,200 square-feet, two new gates, and a new space for vending, pets and a children’s play area.

The expansion allows the airport to better accommodate the flights it has now, as well as prepare for future growth.

Funding for the expansion is projected at just under 16 million dollars and will be split between the FAA, FDOT, Passenger Facility Charges and the Gainesville Alachua County Regional Airport Authority.

The two-year project will start in November.
