Kanji said it is the perfect location for a new hotel because of its proximity to the University of Florida and nearby hospitals.

The hotel is designed as an extended-stay hotel with apartment-style suites, but it will cater to all guests regardless of their stay time.

Engineering firm Eng, Denman & Associates Inc. is heading the project, and construction will begin in about three to four weeks as soon as the final permits are obtained, engineer Sergio Reyes said. Kanji said the new hotel will open in 2015.

CordaRoy’s is planning to move in August from its location at 5310 NW Eighth Ave. to the Westgate Regency Plaza, owner Byron Young said. The new location will be bigger, feature a showroom and hopefully attract more students, he said.

Moving into the former TitleTown Textbook space, CordaRoy’s corporate office will expand to 8,000 square feet at Westgate from its current 1,600-square-foot location.

The new space will be undergoing renovation soon, Young said.

Young said a 2,200-square-foot showroom, designed by Magnum X Design Build, will showcase its Sleepers, or foam-filled chairs and sofas that convert into beds. The showroom is a new concept for the company, he said, and if successful, he hopes to create others like it around the country.
