The Metropolitan at Gainesville is a modern student apartment community located just minutes away from the University of Florida and the UF Health Complex. The project consists of 169 units with 466 bedrooms and boasts a wide variety of resort-style community amenities. The interior structured parking garage provides 392 car parking spaces, 121 for bicycles, and 142 scooter spaces.
eda provided both land surveying and civil engineering services on this large project. Surveyors provided an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey, a Boundary & Topographic Survey showing underground utilities and VVHs, and As-built surveys for the rain tanks and foundation. eda engineers provided civil site plan design including permitting with City of Gainesville, Gainesville Regional Utilities, St. Johns River Water Management District, and Florida Department of Transportation.
The project posed some unique challenges. eda handled issues that arose pertaining to right-of-way dedication and easement vacation. The client’s desire to maximize unit count and parking drove us to propose a private underground stormwater retention system below the parking garage and other exterior paved areas.
