Over our decades of services to GRU under a continuing services contract, eda has completed hundreds of survey tasks for GRU across a wide variety of areas, including; boundary surveys, topographic surveys, right-of-way surveys, benchmark establishment, construction layout surveys, quantity surveys, utility location (via ground penetrating radar equipment), control surveys, tree location surveys, mapping/platting services, establishing property corners, 3D laser scanning, preparation of legal descriptions & sketches and staking field locations & property lines. We have experience at all major GRU facilities and with every type of utility project. eda is in regular communication with the GRU real estate department about their ongoing surveying needs and regularly prioritizes these projects to meet GRU deadlines.
eda engineers have worked on GRU projects such as the following:

  • Main Street Water Reclamation Facility Driveway Improvements
    Completed: 2019
    eda engineers prepared construction plans for driveway improvements to the MSWRF compound including widening lanes, extending cross drain pipes and creating an additional parking area near the entrance.
  • NE 15th Street Improvements | Completed: 2019
    Construction plans for road repair of NE 15th Street between NE 23rd Avenue and NE 28th Avenue including a right-of-way use permit application to the City of Gainesville.
  • Kanapaha Water Reclamation Facility | Completed: 2014
    eda provided Gainesville Regional Utilities with civil engineering and land surveying and mapping services for the Kanapaha Water Reclamation Facility – Dewatering Project. Engineering services included preparation and submittal of a development plan application, representation of client at all required meetings and coordination with other project consultants. eda’s engineers also assisted in obtaining a stormwater management permit from St. John’s Regional Water Management District and utility permitting with various GRU departments.

Significant surveying projects completed for water/wastewater design projects in recent years have included:

  • SW 24th Avenue | Completed: 2023
    A topographic survey of 24th Avenue from Tower Road to SW 91st Street, including underground utility location and VVH’s for 15 utility lines within the right-of-way.
  • Rattlesnake Creek | Completed: 2021
    A topographic survey of a 50′ wide corridor along Rattlesnake Creek in Gainesville. Included location of all existing PUE’s across approx. 30 individual parcels.
