eda provided civil engineering design for the complete redesign of an urban shopping center located at the corner of NW 34th St/SR 121 and W University Ave/SR 26. The project comprised an approximately 50,000 square foot grocery store with associated commercial liner buildings, along with parking, utility, and stormwater improvements. This unique site is bound by roadways on three sides, including two significant FDOT roads. Planned improvements to NW 34th Street and the two adjacent intersections required coordination with several different agencies.
Engineering services provided included the preparation of required development plan applications with related civil engineering drawings, coordination with associated project consultants and representation at all required meetings. The project also required a variance request and public hearing process through the City of Gainesville. The project was submitted to the City of Gainesville, Gainesville Regional Utilities, St. Johns River Water Management District, and FDOT.
Surveying services provided included the preparation of a boundary and topographic survey showing contours, tree locations, aboveground improvements, and sanitary and storm sewer inverts. Traceable underground utility locations found with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology were also shown on the survey. Final as-builts and an ALTA/NSPS land title survey showing the final improvements were provided.
